MLM genealogy leads can be a useful tool in setting up your multi level marketing, particularly if you're an experienced marketer. However, just like most things, there are both pros and cons to using them. In the following paragraphs, we'll look at the issues surrounding MLM genealogy lists.

First Of All, The Good...

I normally consult with networkers who are new to this business. Most of the time, they've been told by their upline to make a list of friends, loved ones, and associates to approach about their opportunity.

This is not the best way forward.

If you're selling sports cars, the best possible prospect is someone who has bought a sports vehicle recently... which may or may not include your pals, family members, and associates.

Sponsoring someone into your MLM opportunity is no different. Preferably, you need t talk to people who have joined a network marketing opportunity lately. These are referred to as "opportunity buyers," which is exactly what MLM genealogy leads are.

So, if you're thinking about getting MLM genealogy leads, you're on the proper track.

The Bad...

Unfortunately, it's not always that easy.

MLM genealogy leads are often years of age, having been dragged from the back office of companies that are no longer in business. This translates into plenty of bad numbers and people yelling, "John doesn't live here anymore... Quit calling me!"

Additionally, there's a good chance that the list has been marketed many times. Chances are, your "fresh MLM genealogy lead" is approached many times before you ever purchased their information.

Another issue is clients. Most companies place both consumers and distributors in the same report, and just because somebody bought a product does not mean they'll be interested in joining an opportunity. Yet more of your time is wasted.

The Ugly...

Last of all, there's one extremely important factor to weigh. Every name on the list that you bought it there for one purpose and one purpose only: they joined up with, or purchased product from, a MLM.

Not one of them asked for their name to be put there, nor did they ask to be solicited by you.

This influences you in two ways:

1) Lawfully, you need to be careful in how you make contact. Since you don't have their authorization, and their phone number may be on the do not call list, you can't take advantage of something like voice broadcasting... as well as you need to be careful with e-mail.

You can call them one by one, but that's not so effective...

Direct mail is probably safest, but a few MLM genealogy leads actually include address data. The majority of include things like name, phone, and e-mail if you're lucky.

2) It requires more skill to achieve success with these leads. If you're going to pick up the phone and call them cold, you better know precisely what you're going to say and be positive in your delivery.

Or else--if they smell fear--you'll be eaten alive!

So there you have it! The good, the bad, and the ugly on MLM genealogy leads.

You might be right to be aimed towards opportunity buyers, but be aware that the majority of MLM genealogy lists are aged, out-of-date and full of bad data. You have to be careful how you reach out to them, and when you do actually reach the person whose name is on your list you will have to handle the conversation carefully.

There are many ways to market an MLM opportunity. There is the traditional warm market approach where you contact your family and friends, and then present the opportunity. This old school technique is falling in disfavor because there are now so many MLM opportunities out there.
